Metphrastics is an online poetry journal inspired by works in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
We publish ekphrastic poetry responding to the Met’s permanent collection and select special exhibits. Our first poems go live November 1st.
To submit, please send up to three poems to metphrastics@gmail.com and include a 2-3 line bio. The editors are Amanda Quaid and Jon Rachmani.

What is ekphrastic poetry? Ekphrasis means “description” in Greek. Traditionally, ekphrastic poetry describes a work of art. It may also respond imaginatively to the work, situate the poet within it, or engage in some other way that expands the meaning of the original piece.
